I can't say we had any exciting adventures, but the goals were to relax by the water, eat, drink, and be merry. By that measure we succeeded just fine, thanks. Last night we had a really nice stroll along the shore, ate some tasty pizza, and then headed back to our hotel for a nice soak in the hot tub.
We had a great view of Lake Superior from our hotel, which almost made the room worth what we had to pay for it. It's just crazy what a hotel room by the shore costs, but since few tourists are all that keen to visit the city in the winter when it's twenty below zero, rooms are very much in demand during the summer.
Despite what I said in yesterday's post, we ended up skipping the drive up to Two Harbors to eat at the Rustic Inn Cafe. We were tired of being in the car, so we just stayed in the Canal Park area with the tourists. We shopped, looked at antiques (which always look like junk to me, frankly, but I enjoy looking at the huge assortments of random crap), had some margaritas on the boardwalk, and commented archly on the various physical charms and shortcomings of the people who walked past us.
Now we're home, and I'm trying to motivate myself to put on my workout clothes and hit the gym. I would much rather sit on the couch and finish the Halfdome, but when I think of the huge quantity of beer and pizza I ingested last night, the elliptical machine calls to me.
I hope you have all had fantabulous weekends. You deserve it, after all.
