Hey y'all! (Delivered in my best Paula Dean drawl.) Saturday greetings to you. Darren and Hudson are still sawing logs, but I'm up and livin' large. At the moment I'm watching a dreadfully bad vampire movie that TiVo thought I might enjoy. It's called Bram Stoker's Way of the Vampire and claims to be "based on a short story by Bram Stoker." Um, okay. Somehow it's hard to imagine that women taking their tops off and hissing at each other would have been so integral to Bram's vision. Did I mention that the movie is dreadfully bad?
Apart from the vampires, it's an Asian-themed day for me today. First up, the better half and I plan to go grab a lunch of spicy noodles at Quang, one of our favorite Vietnamese haunts in Minneapolis. Then we're heading to United Noodles (as featured on Rachel Ray's Tasty Travels, no less), a truly amazing and HUGE pan-Asian grocery store we used to frequent before we moved to the less ethnically diverse suburbs. We typically return home from our trips to United Noodles loaded down with bags of frozen dim sum, tasty sprouts, great tofu, and weird Japanese treats that attempt to blend the oddest combination of seafoods and sugar with eerie day-glow colors. It's always an adventure, and who knows what goodies we'll come home with today. I don't have a grocery list, but we could probably use another gross of plastic chopsticks. I have no idea why those keep vanishing. Maybe Hudson sells them on eBay while we're at work.
