I absolutely love it when I find a new band or artist that strikes my fancy. That happens all too rarely these days. As I approach the ripe old age of 40 (still 39 for a few more months, though!), I find myself ever more disconnected from popular music. Listening to Top 40 radio makes me feel old and cranky, especially when I catch myself thinking things like "How can kids listen to that trash?"
So imagine my delight when (two years late) I finally bought a Scissor Sisters CD. That was a mere two weeks ago, and today I am utterly and completely smitten with this band.
Scissor Sisters have it all--cute gay boys, catchy pop tunes with witty lyrics, and a musical palette that builds on the disparate stylings of Elton John, Abba, The Bee Gees, Erasure, George Michael, and a whole bunch of other cool stuff that I still have to figure out.
Yesterday, the new Scissor Sisters CD, Ta-Dah, was released, and today I have it in my hot little hand. I'm only halfway though the CD, but already I'm just tickled pink.
Or even fuchsia!
Who could resist a lyric like "Oh I could throw you in a lake / Or feed you poisoned birthday cake / I can't deny I'll miss you when you're gone" ? Hey, we've all been there, right?
No time to write more. Must dance!
