As promised, here are a few more photos from our all-too-short trip to Florida.
One of the main reasons for our trip was to meet Darren's new niece, Annabelle, who just turned 8 weeks old.
Here Darren and Anna get acquainted on our first morning. (Seeing him this way makes me wish my eggs were fresh enough to have a baby of our own.)
The proud parents, Jeff & Sonna, along with Darren, Anna, and me.
On Labor Day we went to the St. Petersburg pier for a dolphin-watching cruise. That was a really fun experience, even if the dolphins weren't terribly cooperative.
Here's where we boarded the rather drab Dolphin Queen.
Darren, looking vaguely nautical.
Before we saw any dolphins, we saw a lot of amazing homes. I could comfortably live in any of them.
A number of the homes were arranged around a bird habitat with oodles of cool flying critters.
Finally we managed to track down a couple of dolphins. They didn't dazzle us with dramatic leaps, but it was very cool to see them swimming up to the boat.
I also managed to grab a few seconds of video.
After the cruise, we had a few drinks and some munchies in a pub overlooking the bay. A couple near us stopped making out long enough to snap this shot.
All in all, a really great few days that combined family, great weather, and some fun exploring.
Now I'm totally in the mood to go on another sunny vacation. I think I could get used to it.
