Sunday evening is here, and we're coming to the end of a sad day. Darren's grandmother died early this morning. We got the news while we were making our breakfast. She had been ill for some time, but she suffered a stroke Friday and didn't last long after that.
I didn't know Caroline well, but she was always very kind and had a ready hug for me when we saw her. My last clear memory of her is from Christmas--she was bundled up in the new scarf I had just made for her, wearing the beret I made her the previous Christmas. She looked quite spiffy.
We will be driving down to La Crosse, Wisconsin on Wednesday afternoon for the visitation, and the funeral is Thursday. Work will have to struggle on without me for a couple days.
So, it's been a tough week here. I'm still waiting for a report today on my grandpa after the surgery for his broken hip. He came through the surgery well, but he's very frail and his recovery is still in doubt.
Wow, talk about a cheery post! Glad you stopped by?
We're about to veg out by watching The Lord of the Rings on DVD for about the 50th time. I just added a new ball of yarn to Old Blue, and I want to get a few rows done tonight, too. I think, though don't quote me on this, that I may be on the last skein. About time, too!
Hope you all had good weekends. More soon.
